25th August 2010: Overview of 2010 and continue cycling throughout the year!

Team Green Britain Bike Week took place from 19 – 27th June attracting almost half a million participants at 1,887 events making it the biggest Bike Week yet! This year we were delighted to offer participants and organisers more opportunities to get involved than ever before! These included 13 workshops for event organisers throughout the UK, increased celebrity involvement, online incentive programme for participants and a huge media advertising campaign with Team Green Britain! We would like to thank you for your support in making this year such a success!

The website provides information on all types of cycling events in Scotland, including beginner rides, family rides, fundraising rides, mountain biking events, sportives and road cycling and much more.

BikeEventsScotland.com has been developed by Cycling Scotland, Sustrans, Forestry Commission Scotland, CTC, Visit Scotland and Scottish Cycling and is a one-stop-shop for all cycling events in Scotland.


24th June 2010: Change Your World!

 Change Your WorldSustrans encourage Team Green Britain Bike Week organisers and participants to sustain their activities by pledging to Change Your World!

Take a walk. Get on your bike. Choose the bus or train. Pledge a journey and let’s see how many times we can get around the world by 4 July.

Change Your World is brought to you by Sustrans, a leading UK charity on a mission to enable us all to travel by foot, by bike and public transport for more of the journeys we make every day. 23rd June 2010: Celebrity bike auction raises thousands!

Oxford Cycle Workshop Staff and Victoria Pendleton BikeAfter a week of tense online bidding, the live celebrity bike auction took place at the London Transport Museum on Thursday 17th June. Seven bikes designed by celebrities including Lord Sugar and Victoria Pendleton were auctioned off raising nearly £5,000!

The money will go to the three social enterprises that created the bikes to continue their work - Bikeworks (London), Bike Station (Edinburgh) and Oxford Cycle Workshop. The social enterprises provide jobs for the long term unemployed, people with disabilities and young people who are not in education. In the week leading to the live auction, all the bikes had been exhibited at the London Transport Museum.

17th June 2010: Team Green Britain Bike Week in the media!

Team Green Britain Bike Week has featured heavily in the media and we have lots of exciting activities planned over the next 10 days! The celebrity bike designs and auction has so far featured in a number of national media including The Metro, Daily Telegraph, The Sun, The Sunday Telegraph, The Observer, Timeout, BBC London, Sport Magazine, Cycling Weekly, Bike Biz, Daily Mirror, The Guardian and many more!  19th May  2010: Celebrities come out in force to support Team Green Britain Bike Week!

We are delighted to have fantastic celebrity support for Team Green Britain Bike Week! This year we have been joined by Victoria Pendleton, Lord Alan Sugar and Giles Deacon to name a few and as part of their support we have asked our celebrities to design their dream bikes. We will be working with social enterprises to turn these bikes into real life and auctioned off during Bike Week. The money raised from the auction will go to the social enterprises that brought the designs to life!

14th April 2010: Team Green Britain Bike Week Workshops success!

 All thirteen Team Green Britain Bike Week workshops have now been completed across the UK and have been a huge suggess! The workshops provided ideas and inspiration, practical tips and advice on organising an event(s), marketing and promotion, as well as meeting local organisers who shared their ideas and experiences. We have recieved lots of positive feedback from attendees and we hope this has inspired more people to organise events for Team Green Britain Bike Week!

19th March 2010: Team Green Britain Bike Week Workshops

The workshops have been very successful so far. We have visited 6 towns to date, and will be visiting another 7 - make sure you don't miss out by registering for a workshop today.

17th Feb 2010: EDF Energy backs Bike Week to create Team Green Britain Bike Week

We are delighted to announce our new headline sponsor to support the campaign in 2010, which has the theme of ‘Everyday cycling for everyone’. Team Green Britain Bike Week will run from 19-27 June this year and will challenge people to rethink their everyday journeys and switch to cycling as the most convenient way to get around.

Team Green Britain, founded by EDF Energy, is a movement that enables people to live in a more sustainable way. Team Green Britain aims to help Britons reduce their carbon footprint by 2012 and provides advice on how to make everyday journeys as sustainable as possible.

The sponsorship will fund thirteen group mentoring workshops around the UK for new and existing event organisers, a set of tailored Event Organiser Guides and increased website functionality. Team Green Britain’s 700,000 strong community will not only help Bike Week reach more people than ever before, but the added number of events they bring could make this year’s Team Green Britain Bike Week the biggest yet.

28th January 2010: Bike Week 2010 Dates Announced!

It’s that time again! Time to start planning your Bike Week 2010 events. This year the UK’s largest cycling event will take place from 19th – 27th June all over the country.
